Margie’s own landscape at her family’s house on Long Island is all about being at the beach. The modest house is situated on a tiny, 1/4 acre lot. The landscape outside the kitchen acts as both a grilling area and pathway to the beach. The front of the house is all native plantings, meant to be enjoyed as a garden, with pathways through and places for friends to park bikes. The private spaces around the house are planted with a combination of native and exotic plants, as well as volunteer species that all combine to create an interesting, unexpected palette.
