METROPARK ATRIUM

Edison, New Jersey

The Metropark Atrium is a renovation of a 1980s atrium space to provide a green and welcoming living space within it. A green wall is wrapped around the structure to create a raised, walled garden where people can eat their lunches, meet, read, or just get away. We designed the central space to appear as if it is hidden out in a tropical forest; surrounding plantings create a kind of forest floor. A water feature runs down two sides of the raised garden. This space has become an indoor park for the complex, a refuge for all seasons.
