After participating in the master planning process for an 8-mile stretch Schuylkill River corridor, we completed the design for the one-mile stretch of the Schuylkill River that runs through Center City, Philadelphia. Integrating green space made up of native plantings with the immense infrastructure of highways and overpasses that crisscross the site, the design provides ample space for walking, resting, gathering and playing.
The design also manages views of and access across the CSX freight train line that runs along the river. Through native planting screening and gateways at access points, the rail line has become less of a practical and visual obstacle for the waterfront.
